This past Saturday, Steelpointe Harbor came alive with energy as families, neighbors, and community leaders gathered for a day filled with food, fun, and exciting announcements about the future of Bridgeport’s waterfront.
The event featured local food trucks, a face-painting tent for children, and music from a live DJ, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere. Attendees also had the chance to engage with and hear directly from developer Bobby Christoph Jr., who shared important updates about the next phase of Steelpointe’s growth and its impact on the local community.

Exciting Developments on the Horizon
Christoph Jr. highlighted several milestones, including:
- The August Project: A transformative development that will include 420 units of which 140 are workforce housing units, providing opportunities for local residents and supporting Bridgeport’s economic growth.
- Job Opportunities: An upcoming job fair in October (TBA) will connect residents, including re-entry workers and community members, with roles at The August and other local projects.
- New Hospitality: Steelpointe has purchased a Marriott franchise for a Residence Inn hotel with 142 keys, expected to break ground on October 22nd. This project has already sparked enthusiasm from local companies including nearby hospitals, and the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater and Total Mortgage Arena.
- Infrastructure Growth: A new gas station and car wash are currently under construction and nearing completion.
Commitment to Local Workforce Development
Steelpointe Harbor continues to build strong partnerships with local institutions to create pathways to meaningful careers. Christoph detailed collaborations with:
- University of Bridgeport (UB): Connecting graduates to opportunities in welding and other skilled trades through partnerships with Bridgeport Boatworks.
- Porter and Chester Institute: Bridgeport Boatworks at Steelpointe is offering training programs and scholarships that help residents gain the skills needed for high-demand careers in boatyard services.
A Community-First Approach
The event was more than just an update, it was a conversation. Christoph Jr. emphasized the importance of open communication with local residents, elected officials, and neighborhood organizations (NRZs). He expressed gratitude for the support Steelpointe has received from the community and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that projects benefit both the city and its people.
Council members, elected officials, and NRZ leaders were present, further underscoring the collaborative spirit that drives Steelpointe’s success.
Looking Ahead
From new housing to workforce opportunities, and from a groundbreaking hotel to community-driven projects, Steelpointe is positioning itself as a cornerstone of Bridgeport’s economic and cultural future. Saturday’s event was a clear reminder that Steelpointe is more than a development—it’s a partnership with the community, built on growth, opportunity, and shared vision.
