BRIDGEPORT — On August 10, 2019 at the Boca Oyster Bar at Steelpointe Harbor in Bridgeport local firefighters from Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, and Fairfield fire departments held a T-Shirt Fundraiser to support Homes For The Brave, a Bridgeport-based non-profit that combats homelessness. Homes for the Brave helps Connecticut’s Veterans and other individuals experiencing homelessness to return to meaningful, productive lives by providing housing, vocational training, and life skills coaching to help individuals leave homelessness behind. To date, Homes for the Brave has helped nearly 1,200 homeless Connecticut veterans.
Sponsored by the Boca Oyster Bar at SteelPointe Harbor, the afternoon long event showed guests exactly how enchanting Bridgeport Harbor has become. Donors and visitors alike enjoyed live music and fresh seafood while having the opportunity to stroll along and enjoy the new Harbor Walk on Bridgeport Harbor, taking in the scenic views of Long Island Sound that had been hidden by industry for the past century. The Bridgeport Fire Department displayed their Fireboat, and added to the celebration by creating a giant fountain like steam of water into the air from their water cannon.
The Firerosity Foundation, which is led by Bridgeport Firefighters who seek to improve the lives of everyone in their community by initiating fundraising campaigns, promoted the event and provided the T-Shirts. Their Homes for the Brave T-Shirt campaign raised more than $15,000. T shirts supporting Homes for the Brave are still available on their website at https://firerosity.org/. The Firerosity Foundation is encouraging donors to be on the lookout for their next T-shirt campaign.
