2015 Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. (CERC) announced Bridgeport Landing Development’s Steelpointe Harbor as the top economic development project in southwestern Connecticut. Bridgeport Landing Development, LLC will be honored at the annual CELEBRATE CT! event on the evening of Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at The Bushnell in Hartford.
Jeff Bishop, Director of Center for Sustainable Business Growth, nominated Bridgeport Landing Development, LLC for the award, “It’s the most significant economic development project in decades. It was a no-brainer nominating Bridgeport Landing Development for the 2015 Celebrate CT! award. The Steelpointe Harbor development project will bring millions of people through the Bass Pro Shops store alone and when you include a high-end cinema like Cineapolis, great places to eat such as Starbucks and Chipotle, and if you add Hampton Inn and Suites, the future for Bridgeport looks bright.”
Robert Christoph of Bridgeport Landing Development, LLC said, “We are honored to be nominated as one of the top economic development projects in Connecticut. Steelpointe Harbor has already created hundreds of construction jobs and will create thousands of jobs in the upcoming years. It’s an exciting time for us as the developer and for Bridgeport as a city.”
Bridgeport Landing Development, LLC’s Steelpointe Harbor project will be a destination spot for Connecticut natives and out-of-state visitors. In addition to the creation of 7 to 10 years of construction employment opportunities, Steelpointe Harbor will generate more long-term employment for local residents and add to the City’s tax base. Bass Pro Shops, Steelpointe Harbor’s biggest retailer, celebrated its grand opening on November 18th, 2015.
“CERC is proud to recognize the 2015 honorees and the many successes making a positive impact on Connecticut’s business environment,” said CERC President and CEO Robert Santy. “These awards acknowledge key people, programs and projects that are stimulating new jobs and investment in our economy.”
The honorees were selected by each region for their contribution to the state’s economy – such as consistent or growing employment levels, role in changing the character of its community or civic engagement, strong public/private collaboration to encourage new investment, or leadership resulting in growth or improvements. Nearly 200 economic development and business professionals from around the state are expected to attend CELEBRATE CT!
